Nelson Kyeremeh, 35-year-old native of Biadan in Berekum Municipality in the Bono Region has won the NPP parliamentary primaries which took place on the Saturday 20th June 2020.
There were four (4) aspirants contesting for the slot to lead the NPP in the Berekum East constituency for the 2020 general elections. After the contest, Nelson garnered 286 votes against the incumbent MP Dr Twum-Nuamah 232 votes. The other aspirants are Mr Solomon Kyereh Boadu and Mr Paul Ofori-Amanfo who secured 10 and 2 votes respectively.
Before the votes, there were tension in the constituency due to the factions within the NPP local chapter where almost all the party current constituency executives were openly supporting the incumbent MP and the past constituency executives were also campaigning for Nelson Kyeremeh. The delegates who are neutral joined one of the camps and voted for Nelson Kyeremeh due to poor performance of Dr Nuamah’s 8 years in parliament without bringing any huge or meaningful projects to the people of Berekum Municipality.
Some of the notable projects which were promised by Hon Twum-Nuamah, MP for Berekum East and Chairman for Parliament Select committee on Health but were not able to deliver on time are.
1. Rehabilitations of Berekum inner city Roads - not commenced
2. Construction of 1 storey Maternal and Child Health Clinic with ancillary facilities ,Berekum Zongo- Ghc800,000

4. Construction of 50No. sheds and 1 storey 100No.lockable stores at RawlingsMarket ,Berekum
status : 80% complete
4. Construction of 1No. Health post (CHPS) at Sense,Berekum. Cost: Ghc500,000.

5. Construction of 1No. Police station at Kutre 2,Berekum....

Apart from these major projects promised, Dr Nuamah has also failed to deliver many of his promises too.
However, some of the achievements of the incumbent MP Dr Twum-Nuamah prior to his defeat are:
(a). Purchase of brand new incubator to the Holy Family Hospital, Berekum.
(b). Undertaking free health screening in Berekum.
(c). Equipping and furnishing of the Kyereyawkrom CHP's compound.
(d). Rehabilitations of the Namasua Clinic.
(e). Renovation of Berekum Municipal Health Directorate Administration Block.
(f). Renewal of Health insurance for 1,675 people in Berekum East.
(g). Provision of items to fight Covid 19 in Berekum East.
Here are brief information and achievement of Nelson Kyeremeh, the new NPP Parliamentary candidate for Berekum East.
Apart from Nelson Kyeremeh, being a professional teacher for 10 years,
He holds an Advanced Diploma in Business Studies from the Institute of Commercial Management, UK.
He worked as the Business Development Manager at Wegdam Food Link BV, Netherlands.
He is currently working as Administrator at AGYENGOPLUS Transport & Logistical Services, Tema.
Mr. Nelson Kyeremeh has been distributing mathematical sets, pens and other teaching materials to all Basic Education Certificate Examination candidates in public schools in the Berekum municipality.
Nelson has also built an ultra modern facility at Ahenbronoso to help people in the constituency and he is determined to work hard to bring back the loss glory of “golden city" back to the municipality.
Mr. Kyeremeh has promised to facilitate the creation of jobs for his people especially to support for vocational and technical skill training.
Unity within the party executives and unity between Nananom and other stakeholders are where he will first work on before targeting his main infrastructural works.
